System-wide Features (in all modules)
- Updated Icons
- Task and module icons are color-coded to make it quicker and easier to identify the tasks you’re looking for, even if the item is
minimized at the bottom of your screen.
- Updated Menus. The menus are rearranged to make it easier to find what you’re looking for.
Main Menu Features:
- Back up data, images and reports separately You can now choose to back up your data only, images only, reports only, or
any combination of the three. This saves you time, especially if you have large data files or a lot of images, by allowing you
to back up only those file types that have changed since the last backup.
General Ledger Features
- Negative GL Budget Amounts.
You can now enter a negative budget amount for your GL accounts. For accounts that should have a negative balance, this is very useful.
- Incrementing Journal Entry References
When entering journal entries, references ending in numeric characters will automatically increment to the next number for the next journal
entry. The incrementing will continue on each journal entry until the Reference is changed again, or until the journal entry window is
closed. This makes GL journal entries quicker, easier and more convenient
- Repeating Descriptions on Journal Entries
If you type something in the description box of the journal entry window, that description will remain on the next and subsequent journal
entries. If necessary, you can edit and change the description. This makes GL
journal entries quicker, easier and more convenient.
- GL Reports Past Period 13
With the release of version 8, you can now run the GL Balance Sheet report and the GL Budget reports for periods past 13. Previously, in
these GL reports, if you chose to keep your fiscal calendar open past period 13, and then run the report for any period past 13, the
amounts shown would reflect amounts that are accumulating from the beginning of the fiscal calendar. This means that the year-to-date
totals would not be reflected accurately if the fiscal calendar is not closed promptly at the end of each year.
Inventory Features
- Link to Graphic Image of Inventory Items
This new feature will link a graphic image to a stock item from the Inventory master window. A new button has been added to the window to
view the graphic image. The image can be in .bmp, .jpg, .gif, .tiff, .ico, .png, or .exif format. This will allow you to view your stock
items during any ordering, counting, or selling process to make sure you are referring to the correct item.
- Stock Item Prices on Vendor Tab
Alternate vendor prices for stock items have been added to the vendor tab grid on the IN Stock window. This way, you don’t have to select
the Add/ Modify Alternate Vendor button to see each vendor’s prices and the date you last purchased the item from each vendor.
- Lookup for IN Serial Number in IN Adjustments
A lookup has been added to the Adjust Stock Quantities window so you can look up the serial number of the item to be adjusted.

sold. This feature also includes a new Price Variance Report that management can use to monitor these variances.

item or multiple stock items, you can elect to have the system automatically update your OE Recurring Order templates with the new prices.

The Order Entry Salesperson Codes have been enhanced to offer increased security and consistency between Order Entry and Point of Sale.
- Credit Card Verification Code (OE/POS/JC)
Credit Card Verification Codes (CVV2, CVC2 and CID) are typically required in a “card not present” type of transaction, when the credit
card is not physically present at the time of the sale. The verification number (found on the back of the credit card) is used to prove
that the card user who is purchasing the product or service over the phone has the credit card. Many credit card companies will either give
a discount, if this code is present during the authorization process, or penalize the vendor with a fee if the code is not present.
- Condensed Profit Margin report (OE/POS/JC)
The new condensed Profit Margin report will function in a way similar to the condensed Sales History report (OE/POS) or the Billing History
report (JC), providing more detail than the summary report, but not as much
as the detailed report.
- IN Serial Number on OE Sales Entry screen
When you include a serialized stock item in an Order Entry transaction, you will now be able to enter and view the serial number in the
Sales Entry window. This will provide more information to the sales clerk to reduce the possibility of errors during the entry of the
order.
Point of Sale Features
- POS User-Defined Fields
Point of Sale now allows up to ten user-defined fields. Five are available for the header section of the sales entry window, and five are

currently tracked by the software.
Accounts Payable Features
- Add PO/Description field to check stub
Anything you type in the PO#/desc box will automatically appear on the check stub. This feature has existed for immediate laser checks, but
is being added to the immediate dot matrix check. For checks printed using the Pay Bills menu, the information from the PO#/desc box will
be added to the temporary file that is used to create the check. You can use Report Writer (included with your Cougar Mountain Software) to
add the information to the stub if you wish.
